*New grads and experienced doctors are encouraged to apply!

A well-established private practice on Nantucket is seeking an Optometrist to join its team. As the island’s only full-time, year-round eyecare provider, this is a unique opportunity to practice full-scope, medically focused optometry in a dynamic and highly rewarding clinical environment.

If you’re familiar with Nantucket, you already know the appeal. If not—this coastal island sits 30 miles off Cape Cod and offers world-class beaches, exceptional dining, and unmatched opportunities for sailing and fishing. With a year-round population of approximately 20,000 that grows significantly during peak seasons, the demand for high-quality eyecare is constant and diverse.

About the Practice:
This busy, full-scope practice sees a wide range of pathology, including urgent and emergent eye care needs from the local hospital. Clinical variety is a given, and providers are able to fully utilize their training and skillset. The practice also has a growing glaucoma focus and co-manages surgical cases with specialists on Cape Cod.

The office is modern, spacious (2,500+ sq ft), and equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, including:

  • OCT (Optovue Avanti)
  • Visual Field Analyzer (HFA3)
  • Optos imaging (California rg/af)
  • IPL (Lumenis M22) and LipiFlow
  • Digital slit lamps, pachymetry, B-scan, and more

With over 6,000 patient visits annually and appointments booking months in advance, this is a high-demand, well-supported clinical setting with an experienced team of eight full-time staff members.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Interest in medical optometry and managing ocular disease
  • Residency training preferred, but not required
  • Open to mentoring new graduates

Position Details:

  • Flexible structure: per diem, part-time, or full-time
  • Full-scope medical optometry
  • Collaborative, patient-centered environment

Compensation & Perks:

  • Competitive salary: ~$150,000–$200,000 plus performance bonuses
  • Potential for partial ownership or path to ownership
  • Assistance with housing (practice-owned homes available)
  • Travel support for part-time providers (ferry or air)
  • Medical Insurance
  • Retirement Savings Plan
  • PTO
  • $25K Sign-On Bonus
  • and more!

Why Nantucket?
This is more than just a job—it’s a lifestyle opportunity. Practice meaningful, high-level optometry while living in one of the most beautiful and unique coastal communities in the country.

What You’ll Need:

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) Degree (or pending)
  • An Optometry License in the state you will be practicing (or pending)

Whether you are looking for your first opportunity in eye care or you’re an experienced optometrist looking to take the next step in your career, we look forward to welcoming you to our team! Apply here through Eyes On Eyecare®!
