Job description

Maintenance Technician II (Monday- Friday 1:30pm-10pm)
JOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the timely, efficient, and accurate preventive maintenance and / or repair of all machines and equipment with the ability to perform in all areas of their job duties as listed below under Essential Functions. The Maintenance Technician II will use the Maintenance Management System to prioritize and complete maintenance work orders as well as scheduled preventive maintenance. The Maintenance Technician II must be able to work independently and will be expected to communicate with vendors when vendor support for troubleshooting is required. The Maintenance Technician II will also assist in training newly assigned Maintenance Technician I team members, and be able to attend required training which may be held both in-house and off site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with management about technical details, questions, and ideas
  • Notify Supervisor or Manager in a timely manner of observed or reported machine and / or technical problems
  • Understand the workflow concept of the entire Lab operations
  • Operate most equipment without supervision to include but not limited to air compressors, blockers, polishers, generators, engravers, non-dip backside coaters and Microsoft windows-based computers
  • Calibrate and put into operation above listed equipment without supervision
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and simple repairs without supervision on all above listed equipment and other equipment and devices as needed
  • Perform routine, scheduled and emergency maintenance primarily without supervision on all above listed equipment and other equipment and devices as needed upon completion of training
  • Understand and use technical documentation such as parts lists, maintenance guides, exploded drawings and wiring schematics
  • Follow approved safety instructions, practices, and procedures
  • Maintain lines of communication with Supervisor and / or Manager using valid email address and current phone number
  • Ability to work extended / overtime hours as business needs dictate
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older +
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year experience to include six (6) months of optical manufacturing experience and six (6) months of optical manufacturing maintenance experience, OR one (1) year of prior equipment maintenance experience in a technical or manufacturing environment as determined relevant by management
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English
Desired Qualifications
  • Training in industrial maintenance at a technical school
  • Prior maintenance experience in an optical manufacturing lab
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus is required.

Compensation Range
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $18.00 to $26.62 per hour. This represents the good-faith estimate of the compensation range at the time of posting.
Actual pay will be based on job-related factors, which may include:

  • Internal equity considerations
  • Applicable minimum wage laws
This position may also be eligible for a bonus and/or commission plan, subject to the terms of the applicable plan.
