Job description

WeRIDE Microtransit Driver - Part-Time

Location: 1300 S Litchfield Rd, Goodyear AZ, 85338 ; WeRIDE Operations Center BLDG 210, Suite 210-H

WeRIDE provides public transportation to the residents of Avondale, Goodyear, Surprise and Peoria. Each day our Professional Operators transport individuals who rely on our service to doctors’ appointments, work, grocery stores, and much, much more! As a Microtransit Operator, you would provide our clients with the freedom and independence of reliable, safe transportation. This is a part-time role that requires excellent customer service, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.

  • Starting pay $20.00 with progression to $23.76 over 5 years.

Part Time Operators have no benefits offered with the role

Training Schedule:

  • Training begins with a full-time classroom week consisting of 32 hours of instruction.
  • Once classroom training is complete and you move into skills and behind-the-wheel training , part-time scheduling accommodations can be made.
  • Typical part-time schedules include:
  • Monday–Friday: 2:30 PM – 8:30 PM
  • OR full-day shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Monday
  • Part-time schedules average approximately 30 hours per week .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety-Focused Operations: Execute flawless operations by meticulously following designated routes and schedules, while adhering to stringent safety protocols and traffic regulations.
  • Passenger Care: Exhibit exceptional care and assistance towards passengers, ensuring smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation for all.
  • Vehicle Vigilance: Champion vehicle safety through comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections, promptly reporting any maintenance issues, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety equipment readiness.
  • Adherence to Protocols: Uphold company policies and procedures rigorously, encompassing seat belt enforcement, emergency response preparedness, and compliance with regulatory mandates.
  • Operates wheelchair lift when necessary and secures passengers in accordance with company requirements.
  • Operates 2-way radio and Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) to communicate with Dispatch to report accidents, emergencies, schedule delays, equipment failure and/or unusual circumstances.
  • Transports passengers to and from designated virtual stop locations and regional fixed route transfer points as assigned throughout each service zone
  • Collects cash fares as required and understands the overall fare structure as it relates to the direct service and connecting transit services. Records all fares appropriately.
  • Provides information to passengers regarding the Micro transit service and connecting transit services.
  • Opens the door for passengers at all pickup and drop-off locations.
  • Documents a visual pre- and post-trip inspection via the Operator's Daily Report form.
  • Required to fuel and clean the assigned vehicle daily.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Excellent Verbal communication skills.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Have a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record for at least three (3) years.
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety rules and regulations and paratransit services.
  • knowledge of Maricopa County, specifically the West Phoenix Cities.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and customer focused mindset.
  • Positive attitude, sound judgement, and openness to giving and receiving feedback
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements: The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
