Description
The Newaygo County Commission on Aging is seeking an individual that has a passion for helping others to fill the Bus Operator position. The selected candidate will operate transit vehicles for COA events. Being a bus operator is a great way to give back to the community and make a difference.
Examples of Duties
  1. Performs pre-trip/post-trip inspections, prepares vehicle condition information, records passenger donations, and completes all other required paperwork including passenger information, accident, and incident reports.
  2. Operates transit vehicles in accordance with published schedules.
  3. Operates wheelchair lifts and assists in properly securing wheelchair passengers and chairs.
  4. Assists elderly and disabled passengers.
  5. Maintains order and behavior of transit passengers in a courteous and professional manner, and deals with customer inquiries, complaints and suggestions.

Typical Qualifications
Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Experience: Must have a minimum of five (5) years of driving experience.
Other: Must possess and maintain a Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with BP endorsements.
