Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· All drivers must adhere to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (DOT) regulations
· Conduct both pre-trip and post-trip tractor/trailer inspections and complete inspection reports
· Fuel tractor and reefer at home terminal and on the road
· Operate reefer, maintaining appropriate temperature for optimum quality of product
· Bring back exchange pallets, pick up scheduled backhauls. Occasional unloading depending on the customer’s specifications
· Fill out trip reports, and any other necessary paperwork. Bring back signed bills of lading for billing purposes and turn into designated locations
· Maintain driver daily log. Accurately recording both on-duty driving hours, on-duty not driving hours, off duty hours and sleeper berth hours in accordance with DOT regulations
· Observe and practice both the DOT and company safety procedures at all times. In the event of an accident, notify the supervisor/manager immediately. Attend scheduled Safety Meetings and complete online safety modules in a timely manner
· Perform with attention to personal safety as well as the safety of others. Complete monthly online safety training and attend scheduled quarterly safety meetings
· Perform all requirements of sanitation, GMP/ HACCP standards including hairnets and/or beard nets where required, and personal hygiene policies
· The Federal Motor Carrier Administration (DOT), requires that all drivers must be able to read and speak the English language (including being able to read traffic signs, complete forms, and converse with enforcement officers)
· Ability to pull a 53’ trailer behind a tractor
· Ability to operate a refrigerated unit on the trailer and understand the codes. Maintain proper temperature according to the product and troubleshoot problems
· Ability to match product code with BOL/Manifest
Minimum Job Qualifications:
· At least twelve (12) months of commercial driving experience
· Possession of a valid class A CDL
· Ability to pass the DOT MVR, PSP, Clearinghouse, Drug Test, and Physical
· Must be willing to work nights and weekends
