MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate area of specialization OR Two (2) years coaching, and program specific skills substantiated by training and/or work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Head Men's Basketball Coach in coaching student-athletes in accordance with NJCAA/GCAA guidelines.
- Supports student-athlete recruitment activities and outreach.
- Conducts individual and small-group practice sessions as assigned.
- Provides performance feedback and identifies areas for improvement.
- Assists with developing and adjusting game strategy.
- Upholds the philosophy and standards of the NJCAA/GCAA athletics program.
- Supervises athletes during practices, competitions, and team activities.
- Teaches injury-prevention techniques and proper safety procedures.
- Follows established protocols when injuries occur.
- Assists with team scheduling, travel coordination, and drives to away games.
- Maintains eligibility forms, emergency cards, and required documentation.
- Distributes and collects equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
- Maintains and secures inventory of all sport-specific equipment.
- Monitors academic progress and communicates updates to stakeholders.
- Supports discipline and conduct expectations to uphold program reputation.
- Assists with facility scheduling and coordination of competitive play.
- Carries out additional duties as assigned by the supervisor in support of departmental goals.
COMPETENCIES:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Coaching techniques and skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to make decisions under pressure.
SALARY:
This is a part-time position without insurance benefits; work hours will not exceed 29 per week. Hourly rate is commensurate with education and work experience.
