The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a 37-bed unit that provides the highest level of care for critically ill and medically complex newborns throughout the region. We deliver comprehensive, family centered care to preterm and full-term infants with the most complex medical and surgical conditions. Our unit is staffed 24 hours per day by a highly specialized multidisciplinary team which includes board certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, lactation specialists, and pediatric subspecialists. The multidisciplinary team delivers highly specialized monitoring, critical care interventions, and evidence-based treatment focused on achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:  

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes
• Pursuing continued professional growth through access to continuing education, clinical ladder opportunities, and organizational resources that support long term career progression

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. NPR Certification is required upon hire for experienced nurses and required within 6 months of hire for New to Specialty RNs. S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification is required within 1 year of hire. National Certification is preferred. At least 1 year of Pediatric RN experience is required, while 2 years of previous Neonatal ICU experience is preferred. An Associate’s degree in Nursing is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position is Night Shift, 36 hours per week, 7pm-7:30am.
