Position: Graphic Designer
Project: Wadata - Niger Development Food Security Activity (DFSA)
Organization: The Kaizen Company, on behalf of Tetra Tech
Position Type: Short-term Technical Assistance
Location: Remote
Reports to: Strategic Learning Lead
Period of Performance: Estimated Aug 6 - Aug 22, 2025, part-time support
About Kaizen
Kaizen, A Tetra Tech Company, is an incubator for innovative, scalable solutions that address emerging market challenges and opportunities. Our proven solutions catalyze locally driven, organizational, and institutional performance improvements and shift the development model into one that is bottom-up and ongoing. We leverage existing knowledge, new technologies, and innovative business models.
Kaizen seeks applications for graphic design services to support the development of knowledge, learning, and communication documents for the end-of-project activities for the USG-funded Wadata Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA), which ends in September 2025.
About Wadata
The Wadata Activity, a 7-year, $50 million USAID/Bureau of Humanitarian Aid (BHA)-funded multi-sector Resilience and Food Security Activity (RFSA), aims to sustainably improve food security, food and nutritional security, and resilience of extremely poor and vulnerable households in Zinder through stratified interventions targeting communities, households, and individuals. Launched in October 2018, Wadata will continue until September 2025. To achieve its objective, Wadata is implementing activities in three integrated focus areas:
• Objective 1: Strengthening collective action to deal with shocks and stresses linked to food, nutritional, and water security.
• Objective 2: Increased capacity, assets, and agency for better access to adequate and diversified food at all times.
• Objective 3: Improvement of nutrition, health, hygiene, and sanitation of pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, children under 5 years old, and their families.
Overview
We seek high-quality graphic design services from a highly skilled and experienced Graphic Designer. The ideal candidate will assist Wadata in producing high-quality knowledge-sharing products and facilitate the transfer of the successes and lessons learned during Wadata's implementation.
The overall objective of this role is the effective and engaging design and layout of key communication products for knowledge sharing, including case studies, success stories, technical briefs, reports, and other learning and communication products focused on sharing project implementation, successes, lessons learned, and promising approaches for the sustainability of relevant resilience-building actions. The graphic designer will collaborate closely with the Strategic Learning Lead and select Niger-based Wadata staff in this position.
The estimated ceiling budget for this engagement is USD 7,500.00.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with Wadata's team to develop, design, and edit knowledge sharing products such as case studies, success stories, technical briefs, reports, and learning documents, adhering to client branding and visual identity guidelines. These products will be tailored to multiple audiences, including community-level stakeholders and participants, the host government, other development organizations, funding organizations, the U.S. government, and other interested parties.
• Design and edit graphic elements for short videos.
• Design and edit communication materials, such as banners, posters, brochures, infographics, and other products for capitalization, knowledge sharing and learning events, press conferences, and other venues.
• Deliver products in French and/or English.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, user experience design, or other related fields is required.
  • Minimum four years of work experience in graphic design, visual marketing, data visualization, or anything related, with a strong portfolio of illustrations and other graphics.
  • Proficiency in using design software and applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, CapCut, and others.
  • Strong attention to design aesthetics and visual details.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances and ability to convey images in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Language skills in both written English and French are an asset.
