Founded in 1894, The Washington Golf and Country Club (WGCC) is one of the nation's most historic and distinguished private clubs. With a beautiful view loverlooking the D.C. skyline, WGCC is known for its tradition of excellence, warm community, and exceptional member and employee experiences.


Our Fitness Center is a vibrant hub of health and wellness, and we are seeking a high-energy, engaging, and outgoing Water Aerobics Instructor to join our team for our upcoming Summer Season. The ideal candidate is confident, walk-in ready, and experienced in leading dynamic, water-based group exercise classes that cater to a variety of fitness levels.


This is a high-priority role with classes currently scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8:30 AM or 9:30 AM. Additional teaching opportunities may be available for candidates who are certified to instruct other group fitness formats—please include those in your application.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead safe, effective, and engaging water aerobics classes
  • Provide modifications and progressions to accommodate all fitness levels
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants
  • Arrive prepared and start classes on time
  • Ensure proper use of equipment and pool safety protocols
  • Build rapport with members and deliver excellent customer service

Requirements:
  • Group Exercise and/or Personal Training Certification (required)
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in:
  • Teaching group fitness classes (preferred)
  • Water aerobics or aquatic fitness (preferred)
  • Customer service (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional
  • Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to Arlington, VA prior to start (preferred)
  • Availability to teach early morning classes

Work Environment

This position operates in a [indoor/outdoor] hospitality environment with varying levels of activity depending on the season. Flexibility with schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
