What is a part time medical?

A Part Time Medical job typically involves working fewer hours than a full-time position in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital, clinic, or private practice. Responsibilities vary based on the role but may include patient care, administrative tasks, or support services. These positions are ideal for individuals seeking flexibility, such as students, semi-retired professionals, or those balancing other commitments. Part-time medical jobs can include roles like nurses, medical assistants, technicians, or administrative staff. Hours and benefits depend on the employer and specific job requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a part time medical position?

To excel in a Part Time Medical position, candidates typically need a background in healthcare, strong clinical or administrative skills, and relevant certifications or licensure for the specific medical role (such as CMA, CNA, LPN, or MA). Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, appointment scheduling software, and basic medical equipment is often required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, punctuality, and a flexible attitude are especially valued for part-time roles due to varied shifts and patient needs. These skills enable professionals to provide quality care and maintain smooth operations within medical teams, even with a limited or variable schedule.

What does a typical work schedule look like for a part time medical position?

Part Time Medical positions often offer flexible scheduling, which may include mornings, evenings, or weekend shifts depending on the facility’s needs. Schedules can range from a few hours per week to several half or full days, making the role ideal for students, parents, or those seeking supplemental income. Work hours are usually set in advance but may sometimes require on-call availability or the ability to cover additional shifts at short notice. This flexibility supports work-life balance, but candidates should be prepared to adapt to changing needs in a busy healthcare environment.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff to resolve medication-related questions and optimize patient care outcomes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for inpatient order sets, medication-use workflows, and system standardization initiatives.

  • Provide support and mentorship to pharmacy staff, students, and residents as appropriate.
  • Document clinical interventions and maintain accurate records in the electronic health record.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Licensed Pharmacist in the state of Idaho or eligibility for Idaho licensure.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute preferred.

Why Join St. Luke's
