To assist the teacher in achieving instructional objectives by working with students to help them achieve required skill levels

Qualifications
  • Teacher certification and/or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Associate degree or college credit, High School Diploma, GED required.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates ability to supervise and instruct students.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Teach small groups as assigned using required materials (adapted to specific groups/subjects) in different parts of the room or in different locations around the school.
  • Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work.
  • Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
  • Monitor student academic performance.
  • Participate in in-service training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building administrators or teacher.

Physical Requirements
  • Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone and to enter data into a computer.
  • See and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
  • Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone.
  • Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds and the ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
  • Some teaching specialties (i.e., music, art, physical education, etc.) may require hearing, vision, and physical coordination and/or exertion and effort more than those listed above.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
