Are you passionate about helping students succeed? SSS Classic at PCCC is looking for a Math Tutor/Mentor to support students in:

  • College Algebra
  • Pre-Calculus
  • Calculus

This is a part-time, hourly position. A great opportunity for PCCC students who have excelled in the above courses as well as outside candidates with a bachelor’s degree who are looking to make an impact on students’ academic journeys.

Example of Duties:

  • Tutor/Mentor will play an active role in supporting the overall academic and personal growth of our students
  • Provide subject-specific content to help students grasp and understand key concepts to build academic confidence.
  • Uphold program policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follow the guidance of the Assistant Director to assist in carrying out the program’s policies and procedures
  • *Familiarity with business statistics is a plus.
  • Reinforce material students covered in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's, Bachelor's
  • A or B+ in the relevant subjects
  • 3.25 GPA or higher
  • Tutoring experience is preferred
  • Comfort and confidence working with students from diverse backgrounds, with sensitivity to student needs.
  • Flexibility and genuine commitment to supporting first-generation, under-resourced, college-bound students
  • Demonstrate professionalism, creativity, enthusiasm and encourage student success
  • The pay rate is based upon experience and academic degree attainment

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.

Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this position is $17-$18, depending upon highest educational degree obtained.
