Job description

Math Tutor Part-time (Instructor)
We are looking for passionate, friendly, math-loving people who enjoy working with kids. We will teach you everything else you need to be able to teach the Mathnasium way.
As a Part-time Instructor, you will be impacting the lives of children in our community by creating confidence and a welcoming environment for them to learn new ways of approaching math.  Our tutors are responsible for delivering math instruction to students using the Mathnasium Method. The Instructor is committed to providing exceptional customer service through an expert approach that is personal and prescriptive, attending to each student’s needs. The Instructor builds students’ confidence and self-esteem through successful encounters and interactions with carefully selected materials. 
Experience working with children required.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach mathematical concepts to students.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Assist students with math homework.
  • Actively encourage, motivate, and engage with students during the instructional session.
  • Grade and correct student assignments to provide feedback to students.
  • Provide positive, constructive feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate and build confidence in them.
  • Manage students’ learning progress and engagement throughout instructional sessions.
  • Manage students' time while they are at the center.
  • Maintain student attention and re-engage distracted students.
  • Actively encourage, motivate, and engage with students during the instructional session.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by building relationships with students and families. 

Requirements: 
  • Math proficiency up to Pre-Calculus is required. 
  • Ability to pass a math literacy test to demonstrate math proficiency. 
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to adapt to a versatile environment and handle multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely to convey information effectively to team members and management.
  • Be reliable, responsible, and dependable in fulfilling assigned duties and obligations. 
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Open availability during business operating hours, including evenings and Sundays.
  • Strong comprehension of Microsoft Office and Google Docs.

US work authorization (Required)
The position does not allow for remote work. 

Schedule:
  • Sunday to Thursday (Flexible Hours). 
  • Ability to work during instructional hours Non Summer [ 3:00-7:30 pm Sunday through Thursday], Summer [2:00-7:30 pm Monday through Friday]
