Location: Bremerton (Main) Campus
Reports to: Director of Tutoring
*This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future vacancies. Individuals will be contacted as vacancies occur.
Olympic College is continuously recruiting for Mathematics Instruction & Classroom Support Tech-Tutor positions that may occur throughout the year. This position will be responsible for helping students develop knowledge, insight, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in Mathematics course materials. Part-time positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Submitting an application does not guarantee that a position will be available or offered.
Essential Functions
  • Assist students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings.
  • Assist students in interpreting and understanding mathematical concepts.
  • Assist students in developing critical thinking and mathematical communication skills.
  • Assisting students in developing effective study habits and skills.
  • Assist students working in an online format.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Reference from an instructor or professor if you are a current Olympic College student.
  • High School Graduate, Equivalent, or Current Running Start Student.
  • Completion of MATH 141 (or equivalent course) with a decimal grade of 3.5 or higher.
  • Basic computer competency

Desired Qualifications
  • College teaching or previous tutoring experience preferred.
  • Completion of Math 141, Math 142, Math 151, Math 152, and Math 163 or equivalent courses with grades of 3.5 or higher.

Additional Information
Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement. This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $XX.XX.They are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following.
