Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Tutors are required to offer guidance and motivation in specific subject areas in order to promote the academic success of students. Maintains good academic standing with a 70% or higher Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) rate. This is a Temporary Position that will end at every Fall, Spring, and Summer semester and is contingent upon the availability of institutional funds.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Promotes different learning strategies to encourage students to study and complete assignments.
  2. Explains specific course materials and assists students with assignments.
  3. Maintains logs while keeping students' confidentiality.
  4. Works with students in a lab setting.
  5. Will be required to attend in-class presentations.

Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills
NOTICE: Required Documents
To be considered for this position, you are required to upload your high school diploma or unofficial transcript or GED certificate. If recommended for this position an official transcript(s) will be required. If a license or certificate is required for this position, upload proof of your current license/certificate.
Required:
  • 3.0 GPA in subject area and 2.75 GPA overall. Must have no less than 6 hours of Mathematics college-level courses with a minimum grade of B.
  • A recommendation from an instructor or department chair in tutoring area is required for current students. Professional work references are required from individuals who are not students.
Preferred:
  • 3.0 GPA in subject area and 3.00 GPA overall.
  • Tutoring experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Tutors must demonstrate some knowledge of tutoring methods and/or teaching principles.
  • Tutors must also show the ability to work with others effectively on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Tutors must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
