Description
The Part-time Manicurist Instructor works within the Continuing Education - Service Industries Department and supports program functions by providing didactic and clinical instruction, customer service, data support, and is responsible for instructional performance and documentation. Faculty will also work to maintain program compliance with accreditation standards according to RCC and NC Board of Cosmetic Arts Examiners. This position will be responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
The Part-time Manicurist instructor functions with direction and supervision from the RCC Service Industries Director and interacts with college employees in coordination with appropriate vice presidents and/or management personnel.
Detailed Work Activities
Curriculum and Instruction
  • Maintaining appropriate classroom standards that include the effective management of students in the classroom and the physical management of classroom and training facilities.
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
  • Maintaining an online presence using the current learning management platform.
  • Developing course syllabi that outline clear and appropriate learning outcomes and expectations that reflect program competencies.
  • Reporting student progress in mastering established learning outcomes based on identified and approved assessments.
  • Implementing and providing effective instruction which demonstrates appropriate knowledge of his/her specialized field in accordance with best practice literature.
  • Administering appropriate assessment and/or testing to measure student learning outcomes in all courses.
  • Maintains necessary North Carolina Cosmetic Arts Board records.
  • Maintaining compliance with established North Carolina Community College System performance measures, national benchmarks, etc. for the appropriate curriculum as prescribed by the North Carolina Community College System and accrediting entities.
  • Secures college assets such as equipment, supplies and facilities.
  • Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate.

Student Services Support
  • Referring students to Student Services personnel for guidance, counseling, and resource assistance following prescribed procedures on an as-needed basis.

Institutional Support
  • Assisting with the implementation and enforcement of all official policies and procedures of Robeson Community College.
  • Attending extracurricular functions such as graduation, campus fund drives, etc. that promote collegiate life.
  • Striving to exhibit a personal and professional attitude that reflects positively upon the individual and the public perception of the community college.

Public Relations Support
  • Maintaining effective intra-institution relationships with members of the Board of Trustees, the President's Senior Staff, Administrative Staff, faculty, and support personnel of the college.
  • Promoting Robeson Community College with local, state, regional, and national citizenry.

Professional/Personal Development
  • Maintains appropriate certifications, credentials and licenses.
  • Participating in Robeson Community College, North Carolina Community College System, and other authorized professional development programs upon request.

Other
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the appropriate Program Director, Dean, Vice President for Vice President for Workforce Development, and/or the President of Robeson Community College.

  • Participating in the institutional planning process, as requested by the Service Industries Director.
  • Identifying and/or recommending equipment needed to teach the competencies prescribed in the approved curriculum by the RCC Board of Trustees, the North Carolina Community College System, and accrediting entities.

Organizing
  • Organizing procedures for the implementation of all official policies and regulations of the Robeson Community College and NC Board of Cosmetic Arts Examiners.
  • Organizing, planning, and consulting with internal teams/committees,

Public Relations
  • Maintaining intra-institution relationships with members of the Health Science Community, administrative personnel and other employees of the college.
  • Collaborating with the NCCCS staff on public relations and marketing opportunities.
  • Promoting the Robeson Community College with local, sate, regional, and national citizenry.
  • Participating in activities that promote and enhance the college's image among its various public.
