Job description

Position Summary
Performs operation to prepare, assemble and sew a variety of sewn cover parts ready for final upholstery. Work on a variety of models as assigned performing, preparing, reworking, repairing, assembling and sewing operations for correct line-up, match, dimensions and quality of the complete sewn cover part. Check line-up, match and dimensions of the sewn cover part to ensure completion of work to quantity and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Use small screw driver to adjust sewing machine settings to prepare for next piece.
  • Use sewing patterns to ensure that the fabric is lined up correctly prior to sewing parts.
  • Manually feed fabric through needle housing while using a foot pedal to control the needle speed.
  • Use scissors to cut excessive fabric from completed sewn part.
  • Use seam ripper to open the bobbin housing in order to change thread spoils.
  • Change needles periodically by using tweezers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year experience.
  • Requires basic understanding of specialized or technical fields in order to operate machinery (usually less than 90 days of training required).
