Job description

At ELM Management Services, the MRI and X-Ray Technologist is to ensure all patient scans are conducted timely, maintain all regulatory and credentialing requirements through IAC while providing a high level of customer service to both patients and internal Legacy Staff. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Essential Functions:

  • Contact the patients prior to the scan date to obtain a medical history, discuss what to wear, assure patients can fit comfortably in the machine, etc.
  • Prescreen for ferromagnetic objects to ensure a successful image
  • Review orders in EClinicalWorks for specific areas to scan
  • Protect the patient by shielding exposed areas that do not need to be imaged
  • Position the patient and the equipment to maximize image quality
  • Operate the approved software to record the image
  • Assist the providers with the images, and decide if additional images need to be taken
  • Complete the reports in the PACS system in to prepare scans for reading
  • Provide each patient with a CD of the recorded images
  • Maintain patient records
  • Take X-Rays as ordered
  • Adjust, maintain and work with Esaote technician to ensure the machines are operating as designed
  • Responsible for maintaining accreditation through IAC
  • Operate the C-Arm machine as needed
  • Any other tasks as assigned related to medical imaging and diagnostics
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of MRI quality control procedures and the ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment or exams
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and diagnosis/procedure coding desired
  • 1-2 yearsโ€™ prior experience
  • Ability to use discretion and work independently under general supervision.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct.

Qualifications amp; Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field required preferred
  • Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program or equivalent hospital-based program
  • 1-2 yearsโ€™ prior MRI/X-ray technologist experience
  • Must meet pre-employment requirements and maintain all applicable state and job-related guidelines for background screening. Depending on state-specific requirements, this may include drug testing, health screening, CPR/Basic First Aid, and license/credential verifications.
