What you'll do:

  • Responsible for delivering an exceptional level of customer service while supporting a safe, efficient, and well-organized operation in accordance with Discovery Co-op procedures and standards. 
  • Prepare food and beverage menu items in accordance with established specifications, standards, and procedures, including the safe handling of raw and cooked foods.
  • This role will be required to take customer orders, accurately process transactions through the point-of-sale system, assemble orders and serve food and beverage items from the Discovery Diner menu. 
  • Remove and discard products that do not meet quality standards and accurately record required equipment and product temperatures, as applicable.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities of a cashier and also ensure an accurate cash balance is achieved at the end of each shift
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area. 
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Who you are: 
You are looking for a career in Retail and:

  • Must be under age 18 and actively attending high school and registered in class or classes
  • If ages 14 or 15, must have completed the Young Worker Readiness Certificate 
  • Experience in customer service and food preparation is preferred; Cooperative retail experience is considered an asset.
  • Willing and able to obtain a Safe Food Handling Certificate upon hire.
  • Comfortable working with a variety of food service equipment, soft-serve machines, coffee machines, drink mixers, hot dog rollers, freezers, coolers, etc
  • Able to stand for extended periods, demonstrate good manual dexterity, and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Can work safely in environments involving high temperatures associated with food preparation.
