Short Description

The SR Cardiac Sonographer will be working daily with Sonographer/ Patient schedules. Ensuring staff is up to date on credentials Education- ensuring staff maintains EDU hours towards license Perform duties necessary to promote efficient and economic operation of labs.

The SR Cardiac Sonographer is part of a multidisciplinary team in the hospital who performs 2D and 3D echocardiograms with color and spectral doppler in the echo lab and at the bedside of high patient acuity, including the Imaging of patients on ventilators, ECMO, Impella, and LVAD; Performs stress echocardiograms and dobutamine stress echocardiograms; assists cardiologist with TEE, intracardiac echo, pericardiocentesis, intraoperative echo and code coverage. SR Cardiac Sonographer recognizes the need for agitated saline and contrast agents, IV insertion if necessary. He or she supports sonography training across multiple disciplines (physicians, fellows, students, new hires, etc.) and cultivates a collaborative and cooperative work environment within the department.
Must be part of the rotation for hospital on call schedule during the week, weekends, and holidays (must arrive within 45 minutes of call activation.

1.    Clinical expert for echocardiograms with outpatient and inpatient high acuity populations:
-Performs 2D and 3D echocardiograms with color and spectral doppler in the echo lab and at the bedside of high patient acuity
-Performs stress echocardiograms and dobutamine stress echocardiograms; assists cardiologist with TEE, intracardiac echo, pericardiocentesis, intraoperative echo and code coverage.
2.    Cultivates a collaborative learning environment that enhances learning across multiple disciplines, including but not limited to: physicians, fellows, students, new hires, etc.
3.    Recognizes the need for IV insertion and agitated saline and contrast agents
4.    Ensuring charges to patients align with actual order and test that is performed for accuracy in documentation and revenue return
5.    Effectively communicates with department leadership on supply and equipment needs of the department 
6.    Participates in process improvements related to quality, safety and regulatory goals/initiatives
7.    Stays abreast of specialty emerging technologies, protocols, certifications, competencies, etc. 
8.    Required on-call rotation for the hospital during the week, weekends, and holidays (must arrive within 45 minutes of call activation).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree Preferred

American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification in adult echocardiogram required 


License/Certification Requirements

American Heart Association BLS    
ARDMS or CCI
