Kids Ministry Leader Job Description
The part-time Kids Ministry Leader is responsible for starting, leading, overseeing and organizing all aspects of the Kids Ministry (newborn – 8th grade) while cultivating an environment where kids grow in their knowledge and faith in Jesus. The Kids Ministry Leader will foster a welcoming and engaging environment.
Start-up Responsibilities
The Kids Ministry Leader will launch and lead LPC’s new kids ministry. Launch duties will include, but will not be limited to, recruiting and training new volunteers, getting the physical space set up to work as a kids ministry, ensuring a secure environment and building intergenerational relationships within the church.
Regular Job Duties
- Spiritual Leadership- faith in Jesus that is evident and transferrable
- Discipleship- plan curriculum, coordinate lessons and activities
- Volunteer Leadership- recruit, train, lead, manage and effectively communicate with volunteers
- Security and Policy Compliance- ensure security during church services, background checks for volunteers are current and LPC policies are followed
- Family Engagement- regular communication with families, encourage families to support their children’s spiritual growth
- Church Body Engagement- integrate the kids ministry into the entire church body
- Community Engagement- outreach and growth mindset for Kingdom growth
Qualifications
- Personal and growing relationship with Jesus and alignment with LPC’s mission and C&MA’s statement of faith
- Become an active member of LPC and regularly participate in the life of the church
- Desire to be part of a team that works to complete The Great Commission one connection at a time
- Previous experience working with kids
- Ability to communicate the Gospel and Biblical truth in engaging ways for kids
- Strong relational and communication skills
- Positive, flexible, determined attitude
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and lead volunteers
- Willingness to work under the direction of the Lead Pastor and the oversight of the Board
- Display humility, hospitality, teachability and servant leadership
- Trauma-informed care training or willingness to receive TIC training is required
Expectations
The Kids Ministry Leader is expected to work an average of 15-20 hours a week with flexibility concerning church events and kids ministry activities.
Compensation
The Kids Ministry Leader will be compensated with a housing allowance that will be comparable to a part-time salary. The ideal candidate will most likely need to have a second source of income. LPC is willing to work around other employment demands.
