Job description

Position Overview

The Assembly & Packing Associate performs light assembly and packing of metal stamped parts in a manufacturing environment. This is an entry-level role — no prior manufacturing experience is required, and on-the-job training is provided. This position works in close proximity to stamping presses, automated equipment, and other production machinery, and always requires strict adherence to safety protocols.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform light assembly of metal stamped parts and components following simple visual instructions or examples
  • Visually inspect parts for obvious defects and set aside/report any concerns to a Lead or Supervisor
  • Pack finished parts into boxes, bins, or containers according to packaging instructions
  • Label, count, and stack packaged parts as directed
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards (5S standards)
  • Follow all safety rules, including PPE requirements and staying clear of designated machine zones
  • Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or quality problems to a Lead or Supervisor
  • Move between assembly or packing stations as production needs require
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors about production status
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages 3–6 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 20–50 employees across the Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, Engineering, Production, Shipping/Receiving, and Purchasing Departments. Also directly supervises 2–5 non-supervisory employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Note: Human Resources does not report to Operations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred (not required)
  • Ability to follow simple verbal and visual work instructions
  • Basic counting and sorting skills
  • Willingness to learn and work as part of a team


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a warehouse, production, assembly, or packing environment
  • Basic familiarity with hand tools

No prior manufacturing experience is necessary — training is provided.

Physical Capabilities

This position requires physical ability to:

  • Stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift on a concrete/industrial floor
  • Frequently bend, stoop, twist, and reach (overhead and at waist level)
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to [insert weight, e.g., 25–35] lbs. regularly, and up to [insert weight, e.g., 35–50] lbs. occasionally with or without assistance
  • Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions for extended periods
  • Use basic hand-eye coordination for handling and packing small to medium parts
  • Maintain balance while working around moving machinery and material handling equipment
  • Tolerate exposure to industrial conditions, including loud noise from stamping presses (hearing protection required), machine vibration, variable temperatures, and metal dust/oil mist
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and closed-toe/steel-toed shoes
  • Work in close proximity to moving mechanical parts and powered industrial equipment
