Veterinary Assistant – Ophthalmology

Eye Care for Animals

Albuquerque, NM

 

Part-time: Tuesday-Thursday 8am-5pm

 

Compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with an expected starting range of $16-$17/hour. The final pay will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

 

About You

You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including intake and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements:  

  • 6 months+ of animal handling experience
  • Veterinary Assistant/Client Service experience highly preferred
  • Understand and embrace emotional intelligence
  • Communicate effectively and with confidence
  • Be resilient and ready to tackle any challenges head on
  • Have a sincere desire to help pets and their people

 

Role Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Support veterinarians and Vet Techs to ensure quality veterinary care.
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist technicians with tech appointments
  • Collect Animals for treatments and assist technicians with laboratory tests 
  • Assist with radiographs and ultrasounds
  • Walk, feed, water, and give medications to patients as directed by the DVM
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
