Job Description
Position Summary
The Laboratory Technician I performs testing activities as directed by the applicable Supervisor in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines and supports laboratory operations by maintaining systems.
Authority
The Laboratory Technician I receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to, the applicable Supervisor, or appointed designate, for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities and has the authority to take action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position and to identify the occurrence of departures from the quality system or from the procedures for performing tests and/or calibrations, so long as such action does not deviate from established company guidelines, is consistent with sound technical and business judgment, and follows the practices of the laboratory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform testing activities as directed by Environmental Lab Supervisor, Monograph Supervisor, Lab Supervisor, or Food Chemistry Supervisor in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines.
  2. Wet chemistry techniques utilized will include gravimetry, titrimetry, colorimetry and others as needed.
  3. Maintain neat and accurate records.
  4. Enter testing data into LIMS and monitor for QC failures.
  5. Monitor and record environmental conditions in laboratory. Alert management of any out of tolerance findings.
  6. Perform calibrations/checks of laboratory equipment.
  7. Maintain glassware inventory for laboratory use.
  8. Maintain chemical/reagent traceability.
  9. Assist with maintenance of chemical/supply inventory.
  10. Support quality system improvements through completion of Corrective and Preventive Action forms, documenting Non-Conformances and assisting with internal audit findings as assigned by Environmental Lab Supervisor, Monograph Supervisor, Lab Supervisor, or Food Chemistry Team Lead.
  11. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  12. Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
