Job description

This position involves performing laboratory testing and, at times, field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. The role requires effective communication with laboratory supervisors, project managers, client representatives, contractor personnel, and other stakeholders regarding test results, project requirements, and field observations.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months experience required.
  • Proficiency using a laptop and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.
  • Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
  • Perform testing, observation, and inspection in accordance with training and established procedures.
  • Provide clear and accurate documentation of findings and results.
  • Conduct basic data analysis to verify accuracy prior to communication or submission.
  • Communicate relevant information to the Lab or Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
  • Assist senior technicians with more complex tasks.
  • Maintain assigned equipment, including calibration and routine upkeep.
  • Follow all safety rules, complete pretask planning, and promptly report any safety concerns to management.
  • Uphold quality standards on all assigned projects.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Safely transporting material samples and associated documentation to the laboratory for further testing.
  • Accurately tabulating, preparing, and submitting data and observations in written and digital formats for daily transmittal to the Lab and/or Terracon Project Manager.
  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment and ensuring work areas remain organized.
  • Strictly adhering to all company and project safety standards.
