JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Provides assistance to students, faculty, accounting offices, and vendors in the Automotive Technology program.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Assists faculty with classroom and/or Shop Lab area with set up.
Assists the faculty in the training and learning process both in classroom and lab areas.
Purchases and resells auto parts; maintains running inventory of stocked items and their security.
Checks-out and monitors special tools and equipment to faculty and students and repairs or replaces tools and equipment as necessary.
Maintains school training vehicles and keeps records of repair work done and disposal of vehicles.
Maintains customer work orders, reconciles pay outs and parts purchased, collects accounts and transmits accurate records of collected funds to financial management.
Performs daily clean up of entire Auto Lab area and Auto Lab Classroom areas as well as exterior Auto Lab storage area and equipment.
Performs daily safety checks of heavy shop equipment and repairs, as needed.
Supervises part time Lab Technicians and work-study employees.
Documents, organizes, and maintains records/ inventory on tools, parts, equipment, training aids, customer vehicles and school training vehicles.
Maintains inventory on all equipment, reference materials, visual aids, classroom computers, classroom desk chairs, etc. in the confines of the auto program as per Central Stores directions.
Performs renovation and updates of training aids equipment and tools and/or coordinates the repair of such by outside vendors.
Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of automotive technology sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
Knowledge of standard software applications used by the College or ability to learn same.
Skill in organization and attention to detail
Skill in using conflict resolution to settle problems involving customers and/or vendors.
Ability to communicate with faculty members, students, and/or customers in a courteous, professional manner.
Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to read and understand complex diagrams and technical language used in reference material.
Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate's Degree in a related field.
Two (2) years of full-time, work-related experience.
Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
Valid driver's license and insurability to drive college vehicles required.
Must pass background check.
