Job description

We are looking for motivated CAD Drafters / Designers who will create designs, drafts, and 3D models for fire features, water features and planter containers for our high-end commercial and luxury residential clients.  Candidates should be able to interpret architectural drawings, research information, and communicate effectively with customers, project managers, fabricators, and other departments to model simple to complex designs that include straight, curved and/or sloping sheet metal components.  Candidates should have the ability to design for manufacturability and have a sound understanding of sheet metal manufacturing equipment and process, possess an attention to detail and provide support for other CAD Team members and other departments such as fabrication, sales, and project management.

Qualifications & Skills 

  • Preferred: 2-4 years of sheet metal and design experience.
  • Preferred: 2 year certification in design or engineering field or 4 year degree.
  • Preferred: CSWP Certificate.
  • Strong computer and design software skills are required. Solidworks experience is preferred (Inventor or PTC Creo (Pro/Engineer) will also be considered).
  • Excellent work ethic and high-quality productivity output.
  • Ability to focus on continuous improvement by analyzing situations and improving processes
  • Competent understanding of standard manufacturing techniques (sheet metal working, welding, powder coating, etc.)
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and processes involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Create, draw, and revise 3D models, production drawings, designs, and sketches.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and mechanical blueprints.
  • Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, and building materials to complete drawings.
  • Make final detailed 2D Documentation of proposed designs while regarding materials to be used, checking dimension of parts, relation of one part to another, and relation of parts to whole structure or project.
  • Draft detailed multi-view drawings of products.
  • Evaluate manufacturability of design ideas based on factors such as appearance, safety, functionality, sustainability, budget, production resources, costs, methods, and market characteristics.

Schedule & Pay

  • Pay: $22.00 - 28.00 per hour, depending on experience and skill set.
  • Employment Type: Full-time and part-time day and swing shifts are available. Please indicate your preference on your application. 
  • Full-Time Options: 
    • Full-Time Day Shift: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
    • Full-Time Swing Shift: Monday – Thursday, 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM
    • Note: Hours may vary based on business needs. Occasional Friday or weekend shifts may be required for full-time roles, with overtime paid at 1.5x for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
  • Part-Time Options:
    • 7-Day Availability: Hours available anytime Sunday through Saturday.
    • Flexibility: We can offer week-to-week schedule adjustments to accommodate changing commitments (great for students or balancing other responsibilities!), though having shifts planned in advance each week is strongly preferred to maintain a consistent, predictable schedule for production planning.
