Job Summary
Under general supervision, meet, greet, and provide assistance to visitors, while performing basic janitorial, facility preparation and facility monitoring tasks at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center and/or The Stanton Center (as assigned). Completes janitorial service requests and facility set-up requests (work orders) as directed by the supervisor. Performs job duties with a visitor focus to provide a friendly atmosphere for facility users. Continually striving to meet or exceed customer expectations, enhancing trust and respect for others.
Essential Job Functions
Under the direction of the supervisor, this employee will maintain the Pip Moyer Recreation Center and/or the Stanton Center in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition through disinfecting surfaces and organizing areas in an attractive manner. Works with intra-departmental staff to ensure efficiency and provide assistance to guests seeking general information.
Collaborates with a team of full-time and/or part-time employees in guiding members/guests participating in facility wide services and related programs.
Examples of work (illustrative only)
*Maintains all assigned areas by washing furnishings and equipment with approved disinfectants, arranging furniture and accessories;
* Empties, cleans and relines waste receptacles following necessary precautions; refills fitness room wipes, empties trash;
*Dusts, sweeps and vacuums assigned areas according to the facility standards;
*Check and replenish all disposable supplies daily as needed e.g., soap, paper towels, toilet tissue in all assigned areas;
* Cleans and maintains all equipment in proper working order, reporting to supervisor and need for repair;
*Set-ups & breakdowns meeting rooms, athletic courts, and other areas in the facility for public or rental events with appropriate tables, chairs and equipment in accordance facility standards;
* Responsible for monitoring a predetermined area within the building to insure safe and appropriate use of facility as well as cleanliness of building;
* Directs visitors to the appropriate location, collaborates with full-time and/or part-time staff ensuring increased customer service;
* Utilizes resources to provide routine information relevant to the area, as requested by visitors;
* Maintains a professional, welcoming, and orderly environment to ensure public comfort;
*Performs other duties as needed or required.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required;
* Ability to read, follow oral and written instructions;
* Demonstrates effective communication skills;
*Ability to efficiently complete work order request(s);
* Ability to adjust to unforeseen circumstances in a calm manner;
* Must possess excellent communication skills and maintain a professional appearance and demeanor;
* Must have an eye for detail with regard to appearance of the facility;
* Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently in excess of 20 pounds of force to move objects.
Employment Conditions
Physical ability: Strength and agility sufficient to lift and maneuver tables, chairs, trash cans, boxes and other heavy objects and equipment, and the ability to kneel, bend, reach and push objects for extended periods of time.
Visual ability: Sufficient to operate assigned cleaning and maintenance equipment, and to read written instructions and prepare written reports, correspondence, instructions, etc.
Hearing ability: Sufficient to understand radio transmissions or loud speaker, conversation with other individuals both in person and over a telephone.
Speaking ability: Sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person, over a telephone and over a radio.
Freedom from mental disorders which would interfere with performance of duties as described.
