Description of Work

The Food Service Assistant (FSA) is to serve diets as ordered to each resident according to a pre-planned schedule. This position is responsible for preparation of some menu items and for preparing the menu for serving. This encompasses maintaining safe temperatures of food items; plating meals following specifically ordered diets; following safe food handling policies/procedures; assisting trainer staff in dining rooms as needed; providing snacks and medically ordered nourishments for residents; completing proper food storage and labeling; maintaining clean and safe kitchen environment; ordering and replenishing stock items for the main kitchen; providing appropriate interactions with residents. The FSA is responsible for washing and storage of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and appliances in the kitchen.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $15,600.00 - $24,405.00.00.

Recruitment Range: $15,600.00 - $23,495.00

  • Education and/or experience in food service with focus on medical diets that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.

  • The ability to use various computer programs such as e-mail, Microsoft Word, and Excel as well as general office equipment.

Physical Requirements:


Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering (picking, pinching, typing), grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, ability to exert up to 50 lbs of occasional force and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Visual Acuity Requirements: Visual acuity to determine acuity accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work.

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
