Job description

Description:

The Part Time RN (OR/PACU) plays a critical and highly impactful role in delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care during fertility procedures. This position supports patients across the full procedural continuum—from preoperative preparation through recovery—while working in close partnership with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the broader clinical team.

This is a low-acuity, highly controlled procedural environment centered on transvaginal oocyte retrievals under IV sedation. The role also offers valuable exposure to fertility and IVF care, enabling nurses to broaden their clinical skillset within a specialized field.

Requirements:

Procedural (OR) Support

· Prepare procedure rooms, instruments, and supplies for daily cases

· Perform pre-procedure verification, including patient identification and consent checks

· Circulate during egg retrieval procedures, ensuring patient safety and effective team communication

· Assist anesthesia providers and monitor patient status intraoperatively


PACU / Recovery Care

· Provide immediate post-anesthesia care, including airway support, monitoring, and pain management

· Assess patient readiness for discharge and ensure safe recovery

· Identify and escalate complications promptly


Patient Education & Communication

· Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure expectations

· Provide clear discharge instructions and ensure patient understanding

· Serve as a liaison between patients and the clinical team


Care Coordination

· Collaborate closely with physicians, embryology, and clinic staff to ensure smooth procedural flow

· Support pre-op/post-op coordination and documentation

· Assist with clinic-based workflows as needed


Documentation & Quality

· Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR

· Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards

· Participate in simulation training and quality improvement initiatives

Schedule

Compensation

· Hourly rate: $40–$65/hour, commensurate with experience


Qualifications

· Active Massachusetts RN license in good standing

· Associate’s degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred

· 2+ years of PACU, OR, or procedural nursing experience required

· ACLS certification required

· OB-GYN or fertility experience preferred, though not required

· Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and procedural proficiency

· Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
