Position Overview
*This is an open and continuous recruitment which will remain open and close without notice once a sufficient pool of highly-qualified candidates has been created.
The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Student Assistant Part-Time, in the Department of Parks and Recreation (Park Planning). The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty assisting with the routine function of the department to which assigned.
The first review of applications will take place on June 23, 2026.
VACANCY INFORMATION:
• This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position.
• This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation
• This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS)
• Work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need
Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate is a Landscape Architecture student who has basic knowledge of Adobe Suite, Auto CAD, reviewing construction documents and specifications, and interested in the public sector. We are looking for a team player who is willing to learn and has a desire to impact our community.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school, or the equivalent
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, vocational or technical school in an academic area related to the work performed by the department to which assigned
- May be required to pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
- May be required to complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
