Job description

We are seeking a part-timePsychiatristtosupport our programin Sharon Hill, PA onsite one day per week with telehealth support as needed.

Earn $175+/hr

As part of our Adult Behavioral Health Services team, the Psychiatrist will assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide psychiatric treatment, and rehabilitation for adults with mental illnessin conjunction with all team members and interagency teams.Learn more about our AdultBehavioral Health Services here:https://www.merakey.org/services/adult-behavioral-health.

Duties include:

  • Psychiatric Evaluation and Diagnosis:

    • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to assess the mental health needs of patients with behavioral health needs.
    • Formulate accurate diagnoses based on assessment findings and evidence-based criteria.

    Care Planning:

    • Collaborate with the clinical team to develop and implement treatment and crisis stabilization plans.

    Medication Management:

    • Prescribe appropriate psychotropic medications to address patients' mental health symptoms and conditions.
    • Monitor medication efficacy, side effects, and overall treatment progress.
    • Adjust medication regimens as needed to optimize patient outcomes.
    • Observe Merakey policies on prescription renewals, telephone and electronic scripts, etc.

    Collaborative Treatment Planning:

    • Work closely with the treatment team, including therapists, peer specialists, psychiatric rehabilitation specialists, care navigators, nurses, and case managers, to develop integrated treatment plans for patients.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress and develop comprehensive care strategies.
    • Document at least one contact with consumers' PCP (e.g., ongoing, at annual intervals, PRN).
    • Conduct regular case conferences on applicable patients.

    Documentation and Electronic Health Records (EHR):

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation using the BHUCC's electronic health records system.
    • Ensure compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements.

    Medication Education and Informed Consent:

    • Provide patients and their families with information about prescribed medications, potential side effects, and expected outcomes.
    • Obtain informed consent for treatment, explaining risks, benefits, and alternatives.

    Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in peer reviews and quality improvement activities to enhance the delivery of psychiatric care.
    • Stay informed about current research and developments in psychiatric treatment modalities.
    Collaborate with external mental health providers and agencies to facilitate coordinated care.

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
  • Valid state medical license and DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, emergency psychiatry, or urgent care settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based psychiatric treatments and interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and empathy in working with patients and their families.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare technology.
