Job description

This position is scheduled to work 28 hours per week. 

Summary:

We are currently seeking dedicated Occupational Therapists (OT) to join our team in a local traveling role. This position offers a dynamic work environment and requires a flexible, adaptable approach to meet the evolving needs of students and schools. As a traveling OT, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping students reach their full potential.

  • Advantage Charter Academy - Baker, LA

  • Inspire Charter Academy - Baton Rouge, LA

  • Willow Charter Academy - Lafayette LA

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services as outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or Section 504 plans.

  • Conduct assessments of motor, visual-motor, and sensory-motor skills for students referred for special education evaluation to help determine eligibility for services.

  • Participate in the IEP/Section 504 process, providing input on assessment measures, intervention strategies, and student progress.

  • Collaborate as a member of the special education team to deliver comprehensive services to students with disabilities.

  • Consult with teachers, school administrators, parents, and relevant stakeholders regarding students' physical, motor, and sensory development.

  • Work closely with teachers to integrate occupational therapy goals into the classroom environment and support classroom objectives through therapy programs.

  • Provide training to relevant individuals on effective methods to assist students in mainstream settings.

  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust occupational therapy interventions in collaboration with school staff and parents.

  • Utilize treatment strategies involving physical, sensory, manual, creative, and recreational activities to support student development.

  • Design adaptive equipment and devices for individual students and classroom use.

  • Maintain an accurate record of student caseload requirements and update the Special Education Administrator on any changes.

  • Maintain a detailed schedule and service logs, and track student progress toward therapy goals.

  • Demonstrate professionalism in handling confidential matters and materials.

  • Pursue ongoing professional development to stay informed about current practices and research in occupational therapy.

  • Participate in school initiatives such as screening programs to support student development.

  • Attend parent-teacher meetings as needed to discuss student progress and therapy plans.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the building principal.

  • We are open to considering qualified Occupational Therapists as either employees or independent contractors.


Qualifications:

  • Licensed as an OT; provisional license or qualified license through the LA Dept of Education.
