Position: Physics Research Collaborator (Part-time)
Type: Contract
Compensation: $80–$110/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: Up to 20 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate research papers in Physics for correctness, novelty, and significance.
  • Author and review challenging Physics problems to train and evaluate frontier AI models.
  • Evaluate model outputs on tasks like analytical derivation, mechanism prediction, and numerical modeling.
  • Surface areas where current models fail, especially mistakes a working PhD physicist would catch.
  • Collaborate with a small program team and other senior contributors.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • First-author or co-first-author publications in journals such as Physical Review Letters, Nature Physics, or Science.
  • A doctorate or postdoctoral training from a top-20 global institution in Physics or a related STEM field.
  • A competitive fellowship like an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship or Sloan Research Fellowship.
  • Issued patents, a spin-out company, or grants held as a named Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator.
  • An International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal.
  • Current or recent experience in an active research role, such as a PhD candidate or postdoctoral researcher.
