Job description

Hourly Salary - $29.90 - $32.09Core Responsibilities

As a part-time Fire Inspector, you’ll deliver strategic impact by strengthening community risk reduction, fire prevention, and code compliance across Rutherford County. This role exists to protect life and property through consistent application of Fire safety standards and practical enforcement.
Key responsibilities include conducting inspections of commercial properties for code compliance, performing plan review of development and fire protection plans, and recommending process improvements.
Required knowledge/skills:
- Working knowledge of NFPA codes, International Fire Code, International Building Code
- Plan review capability and code compliance enforcement judgment
- Community risk reduction strategies and strong written/verbal communication
- Experience performing fire inspections
- Proficiency with MS Office and fire prevention software (e.g., FireHouse)
- Preferred certifications: Fire Inspector I/II, Fire Officer I, ICC Fire Plans Examiner
