Position Title: Cashier
Position Summary: The Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service by accurately and efficiently processing customer transactions, handling payments, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. This role plays a critical part in creating a positive shopping experience for customers and ensuring the smooth operation of the store. General Purpose: To ensure a seamless checkout process by scanning items, handling cash and card transactions, assisting with customer inquiries, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Accurately scan and ring up customer items in a timely manner.
  • Handle customer payments, including cash, credit, and debit transactions, and provide correct change when necessary.
  • Process returns, exchanges, and gift card transactions in accordance with store policies.
  • Offer assistance to customers by answering questions, providing store information, and resolving any concerns.
  • Bag groceries in a way that protects items and makes them easy for customers to carry.
  • Maintain a clean and organized checkout counter, including ensuring that all items are neatly arranged.
  • Follow store policies for the sale of age-restricted items, such as alcohol or tobacco.
  • Keep track of the register drawer, ensuring it is balanced at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Alert management to any register discrepancies or customer service issues that require attention.
  • Maintain a positive and friendly attitude while interacting with customers and team members.
  • Follow all safety protocols and store policies to ensure a safe working environment.
