What does a part time infusion nurse do?

A Part Time Infusion Nurse is a registered nurse who specializes in administering intravenous (IV) infusions and medications to patients on a part-time basis. They monitor patients during infusions, manage IV lines, and ensure patient safety throughout the treatment process. These nurses often work in hospitals, clinics, or home healthcare settings, providing care for patients with conditions such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, or infections. In addition to administering treatments, they educate patients about the infusion process and report any side effects or complications to physicians.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time infusion nurse?

To thrive as a Part Time Infusion Nurse, you need strong intravenous (IV) therapy skills, a nursing degree, and a valid RN license with experience in infusion or oncology nursing. Familiarity with infusion pumps, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and adherence to safety protocols are typically required. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care are standout soft skills. These qualifications and skills are crucial to ensure safe, effective infusion treatments and positive patient outcomes while working efficiently in variable schedules.

What are the typical scheduling expectations and work-life balance considerations for a part time infusion nurse?

Part-time infusion nurses generally work flexible shifts, often including days, evenings, or weekends, depending on the facility’s patient volume and needs. While the reduced hours can support a healthier work-life balance, nurses may still need to accommodate fluctuating schedules if patient appointments change or urgent cases arise. Communication with supervisors about preferred shifts and availability is key, and many clinics strive to provide advance notice of schedules. The role often requires collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other nurses to manage patient care efficiently during assigned shifts.

What is the difference between Part Time Infusion Nurse vs Part Time Oncology Nurse?

While infusion nurses focus on administering IV therapies across various specialties, oncology nurses specialize in cancer treatments like chemotherapy. The roles overlap in patient monitoring and IV skills but differ in specific treatment focus and certifications.

Do part time infusion nurses get paid more?

Part-time infusion nurses typically earn an hourly rate that can be comparable to or slightly higher than full-time nurses, especially if they work overtime or have specialized skills. However, overall pay depends on factors such as experience, certifications, location, and employer policies, rather than solely on employment status as part-time or full-time.

Part-time

Job description

Mobile RN – Join Our Mobile RN Team
Baseline Medical is a women-owned, nurse-led company redefining how medical care is delivered across the DMV. We provide mobile medical services and IV therapy to patients in their homes, hotels, and offices — bringing high-quality clinical care directly to where people are. We are growing our Mobile RN Team and looking for experienced, highly skilled Registered Nurses who want to practice nursing in a more personal, professional, and modern way.
This is an opportunity for nurses who are confident clinically, excellent with patients, strong with IVs, and excited to be part of a company building the future of mobile medical care

The Role
Our Mobile RN position is structured and shift-based—not an on-call role. Nurses begin and end their shifts at our Fairfax office, where supplies are managed and stocked. You will not be required to store or carry supplies at home. This structured approach ensures consistency, safety, and support for both our patients and our team.
Mobile RNs work under the supervision of an experienced Clinical Team Leader, Nurse Practitioners and our Medical Director, supported by a dedicated Logistics team that manages scheduling and client communication. You will focus on delivering excellent care.
This role is a great fit for nurses who want:
  • A more autonomous nursing role outside the hospital setting
  • A premium patient-care environment
  • Structured shifts instead of on-call work
  • Flexible part-time self scheduling options
  • Hourly stability with additional earning upside
  • The chance to help build a new category of mobile medical care
Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, professional mobile medical services including IV therapy to patients in their homes, hotels, or offices.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical care, following established policies and procedures.
  • Work with Nurse Practitioners Virtually
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently.
  • Uphold the professional image of Baseline Medical as the region’s leader in mobile medical care.
Qualifications
  • Active RN license for VA, MD, DC
  • 2+ years of recent acute care or infusion experience.
  • Strong IV insertion skills, with ability to work independently in a mobile environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor.
Pay & Benefits
Our compensation model is designed to provide both stability and performance-based upside.
Mobile RNs are paid an hourly base rate for all scheduled shifts, combined with additional service-based compensation tied to completed appointments. This structure ensures consistent earnings while rewarding efficiency, skill, and productivity.
Hourly base: $30–$35/hr + service-based compensation
On average, our nurses earn between $40–$70 per hour depending on shift volume, experience, and performance, with top performers consistently earning on the higher end of that range.
Mileage reimbursement.

Part-time scheduling options are available, including 8 or 10 hour shifts. Flexible self scheduling is coordinated based on availability and business needs.
Who This Role Is Best For
This role is ideal for nurses who are clinically strong, highly professional, and ready for a different kind of nursing environment.
You may be a great fit if you enjoy one-on-one patient care, take pride in excellent IV skills, communicate well with patients, and want to be part of a growing nurse-led company that values structure, professionalism, and high standards.
Baseline Medical is building something different — and we are looking for nurses who want to grow with us.
