General Description/Primary Purpose:
On behalf of Murray State College and the Industrial Engineering Technology (IET) Program, serve as the primary recruiter to represent the program throughout the college's service area with a goal of developing relationships, promoting Industrial Engineering Technology career pathways, and increasing enrollment in the IET program, including degree, certificate, concurrent enrollment, and workforce training opportunities.
Appointment: Part-Time,10-month appointment
Description of Duties and Tasks:
  1. Guide and assist the Industrial Engineering Technology Program in recruitment efforts throughout the service area.
  2. Represent the IET Program at career fairs, high schools, technology centers, community events, manufacturing facilities, and campus recruitment events.
  3. Assist prospective students with information regarding admissions, enrollment, scholarships, financial aid, and career opportunities available through the Industrial Engineering Technology Program.
  4. Meet with prospective students, parents, school counselors, teachers, industry partners, and community members to promote the program.
  5. Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment while maintaining a positive image of Murray State College.
  6. Become fully acquainted with all aspects of the Industrial Engineering Technology Program including degree options, certificates, micro-credentials, internships, career opportunities, scholarship opportunities, transfer pathways, and workforce partnerships.
  7. Initiate, maintain, and strengthen recruitment contacts throughout the college's service area, including public schools, career technology centers, homeschool organizations, community organizations, and local industries.
  8. Provide presentations promoting Industrial Engineering Technology careers and Murray State College programs to secondary schools, career centers, businesses, civic organizations, and community groups.
  9. Recruit students interested in traditional, online, concurrent enrollment, workforce development, and short-term certificate programs.
  10. Assist with planning, organizing, and conducting campus visits, Manufacturing Day, Aggie Engineering Competitions, open houses, STEM camps, career fairs, and other recruitment events.
  11. Conduct tours of Industrial Engineering Technology facilities and laboratories tailored to prospective students, families, school groups, and industry visitors.
  12. Develop and maintain relationships with manufacturing employers to assist with internships, apprenticeships, job placement, and recruitment initiatives.
  13. Assist with maintaining recruitment databases and tracking recruitment activities.
  14. Collaborate with Admissions, Outreach, Financial Aid, Student Services, Marketing, and Academic Affairs to achieve enrollment goals.
  15. Explore innovative recruitment strategies including social media, digital marketing, workforce partnerships, and community engagement.
  16. Assist in creating promotional materials including brochures, presentations, videos, newsletters, and social media content.
  17. Essential job duties are examples only and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
  18. To meet objectives of virtual work-related situations and/or extended periods when working from home, all faculty and staff must have access to 24/7 reliable off-campus Internet.
  19. Maintain NIMS training as required, including the IS-700.a and IS-100 test.
  20. Complete all training assigned by the Human Resources Department.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below or be able to demonstrate the performance of essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Murray State College's mission and the Industrial Engineering Technology Program.
  • Represent the college professionally and build positive relationships with students, families, schools, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Promote technical education, skilled trades, online programs, and certificate opportunities through effective recruitment strategies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, industrial maintenance, automation, engineering technology, or skilled trades.
  • Experience with secondary schools, CareerTech centers, higher education recruitment, or community outreach preferred.
  • Plan and participate in recruitment events, including evening and weekend activities.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, social media, and digital tools for recruitment and marketing; graphic design or multimedia experience preferred.
  • Understand regional workforce needs in southern Oklahoma and north Texas.
  • Travel throughout the service area and transport recruitment materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Support student learning, workforce development, and community engagement.

Other Ergonomic Requirements
While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, stand, and perform routine physical activities, including walking, sitting, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. The position requires sufficient vision to safely and effectively perform essential job duties.

Hours:
Part-time hours will not exceed 29 hours per week. Hours may include early-morning, evening, and weekend appointments when recruitment requirements warrant.
Qualifications Standards:
  1. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree preferred in Industrial Engineering Technology, Business, Education, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  2. Preferred Experience: Experience in recruitment, education, manufacturing, workforce development, student services, or public relations.
  3. License: Valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
  4. Image: Murray State College employees are expected to maintain a neat, well-groomed and professional image at all times.
  5. Professionalism: Members of the Murray State College staff are expected to show professional competence, integrity, and enthusiasm in the performance of all responsibilities.
  6. Background Check: The successful candidate must give permission to have a formal background check conducted and employment is contingent upon the results of the national criminal and sex offender background check.
