Chemical Dependency Technician (The Gables) #1883
The Gables is currently looking for a great candidate to work at our Rochester location in a part-time capacity as a Chemical Dependency Technician. The ideal candidate would have past experience in mental health or substance abuse and have both weekday and weekend availability.
The rate for this role is $19.00 - $21.00 per hour with an additional $2 per hour for any hours worked between 11:00PM - 7:00AM.

Position Overview
As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Chemical Dependency Technician (CD Tech) will assist clients from admission through discharge providing client support through the extended substance and mental health treatment process. CD Tech’s supervise and manage client behavior and help manage client crisis situations when necessary. They assist on-duty counselors as required in direct support of program goals and objectives. CD Techs require self-confidence, professionalism and the ability to exercise individual discretion and judgment. They must manage competing demands on their time and adhere to program schedule and rules. This includes situations where a client may be under the influence of a controlled substance or struggling with mental health symptoms, the CD Tech will respond in a professional, therapeutic and positive manner. They must be able to react and respond to medical emergencies conveying a positive and professional image to clients, staff and visitors. CD Techs must be able to maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Required:
  • Age 18 or older
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification and Medication Administration certificate (for Residential only) obtained within 30 days of starting work.
  • Able to pass Minnesota DHS background study.
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Physical Demands: Sitting for extended periods of time. Daily use of general office and/or residential facility equipment. Lifting (max 25 pounds), minimal reaching, bending and stooping. Ability to effectively navigate program and office environment such as ascending and descending steps, passing through doorways and entrances, and accessing program/office facilities.
  • Proficiently understand, follow instructions, and communicate effectively in English. Able to effectively document services in writing formatted in English.
Preferred:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in an addiction treatment facility or experience working in the substance use disorder and/or mental health field.
  • Competent computer skills and able to effectively enter information in various systems.
