Position Summary: Bartell Hotels is seeking a creative, motivated, and hospitality-focused Digital Marketing & Content Intern to support digital storytelling, social media content creation, website content initiatives, and content marketing projects across a portfolio of San Diego hotels.

This internship is designed for a student or emerging marketing professional interested in gaining hands-on experience in hospitality digital marketing, social media, content creation, SEO, and evolving AI-driven search strategies.

The intern will work closely with the Social Media & Content Specialist and Digital Content & SEO Specialist to help create engaging content that supports brand visibility, guest engagement, and direct booking initiatives across both independent and branded hotel properties.

This role offers the opportunity to gain real-world experience in hospitality marketing, digital storytelling, social media strategy, and modern content development within a collaborative commercial team environment.

Essential Responsibilities: Social Media & Content Support

  • Assist with creating, scheduling, and organizing organic social media content across hotel brands and platforms
  • Support the development of social media content calendars and campaign planning
  • Assist with capturing on-property content including photography, short-form video, reels, stories, and behind-the-scenes content
  • Help organize and maintain digital asset libraries including photos, videos, and user-generated content
  • Research social media trends, viral content ideas, and emerging platform features

Content Marketing & Website Support

  • Assist with updating website content, blogs, promotional pages, and digital storytelling initiatives
  • Support content research for destination guides, itineraries, FAQs, and seasonal travel content
  • Help identify opportunities to repurpose content across social media, website, email, and blog channels
  • Assist with organizing promotional and campaign content across multiple hotel brands

SEO & AI-Search Content Support

  • Research guest search trends, local events, and destination topics that can support content development
  • Assist with FAQ development and conversational content projects designed to improve discoverability
  • Support content optimization initiatives focused on evolving search behaviors and AI-driven search experiences
  • Help monitor content performance trends and competitive digital marketing initiatives

Cross-Channel Collaboration

  • Support digital marketing campaigns across social media, website, and email channels
  • Assist with organizing campaign assets and project timelines
  • Collaborate with commercial and hotel teams on content-related initiatives

Reporting & Administrative Support

  • Assist with organizing digital marketing reports and campaign results
  • Support content tracking and project coordination
  • Maintain organized campaign documentation and digital asset management systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, Digital Media, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
  • Interest in digital marketing, social media, hospitality, and content creation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social platforms
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Creative mindset with an interest in storytelling and visual content
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment

Preferred Skills

  • Basic photography or video editing experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools is a plus
  • Interest in SEO, blogging, content marketing, or AI-driven search trends
  • Hospitality or customer service experience is a plus
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
