About this Job

The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity. This position is located in the Nursing Department of the Northwest LA Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana.

We're looking for a Licensed Practical Nurseto join our Nursing team—a proactive, patient care focused team, working to provide our Veterans with the best possible care. The LPN position plays an integral role in the patient care of our Veterans, by ensuring that their daily needs are met.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Implements selective aspects of the nursing care plan, i.e., comfort, hygiene, safety measures, nutrition, etc. under progressively more generalized supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.
  • Observes patients for changes in physical and/or mental status or behavior and reports significant changes.
  • Obtains specimens for laboratory testing as assigned and takes vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Administers medication and treatments in accordance with policies and procedures.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional or WAE

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a LPN 1, 2 or 3.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 12 hour shifts which includes DAY OR NIGHT shifts.

Compensation: This position has a Special Entrance Rate of$19.48/hr to $22.30/hrdepending on qualifications and is eligible for premium pay of $4.00 per hour worked and a $2.00 per hour shift differential on nights/weekends/holidays.
