We offer:

  • Hourly wage: $47.59-$62.73
  • Shift premium

Active CRNA and valid ACLS and BLS will be asked to be submitted before interview.

Position Summary 

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides a wide variety of nursing services to patients and their families. You will utilize standard nursing processes thorough critical thinking, problem solving and decision making. The RN acts in accordance with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) standards and aligned to facility policies and procedures. The RN possesses the related education and clinical experience to assess, treat and educate patients undergoing and recovering from a wide variety of surgical procedures. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Direct patient care for post-surgical orthopedic patients.
  • Routine vitals and rounding on patient assignment.
  • Manage 3 – 4 post-op patient assignment.
  • Able to start intravenous.
  • Collaborates with all members of the health care team.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration and controlled substances regulations.
  • Documents patient care appropriately in the medical record.
  • Participates cooperatively and communicates effectively with team members.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies.
  • Assists with the orientation and support for new staff to the facility.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by leader.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • The work environment is physically demanding and may require different levels of physical exertion, lifting and transferring patients
  • At times, RNs may work in challenging and stressful circumstances, or in an emergency situation
  • Basic orthopedic bed side nursing is required
  • RNs should be able to aid patient with crutches and walker, etc.

Education

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program combined with 2 –3 years recent experience in acute care day surgery/inpatient surgery environment
  • Active practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)

Professional

  • Valid Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider required (BLS-HCP).
  • Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support required (ACLS).
  • Excellent assessment, organization, communication and team interaction skills.  
  • Orthopedic experience is preferred.
