What You'll Do
As a Part-Time Instructional Designer, you'll collaborate with faculty to create engaging learning experiences that support both students and instructors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, and revising curriculum for online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning environments.
- Supporting faculty in the development and continuous improvement of online courses.
- Building and maintaining courses within web-based learning management systems.
- Creating multimedia instructional resources, including graphics, video, audio, animations, and interactive learning materials.
- Capturing and editing instructional content, including demonstrations, safety procedures, and technical training.
- Applying instructional design best practices and adult learning principles to course development.
- Adapting instructional materials across multiple learning formats and delivery methods.
- Providing individual and group training on instructional technologies and learning management systems.
- Assisting faculty with online collaboration and conferencing technologies.
- Advising faculty on copyright compliance and best practices for digital course materials.
- Supporting students with technical issues related to online learning platforms.
- Staying current with emerging technologies, instructional design trends, and distance education best practices.
- Managing multiple projects while maintaining high-quality work and meeting deadlines.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is creative, collaborative, and passionate about improving teaching and learning through instructional technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in instructional design, curriculum development, education, training, or a related field.
- Experience developing courses within a learning management system (LMS).
- Knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and online learning best practices.
- Proficiency with instructional technology and multimedia development tools, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Camtasia, QuickTime, HTML editors, or similar software.
- Experience producing multimedia learning content, including graphics, video, audio, and interactive resources.
- Familiarity with online collaboration and conferencing platforms.
- Understanding of copyright laws and digital publishing standards.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to users with varying levels of technical experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, project management, and presentation software.
