Job description

Job Title: Expeditor

Department: Food amp; Beverage

Reports To: Dining Room Manager


Job Summary:

The Food Runner is responsible for supporting the culinary and service teams by delivering food from the kitchen to members amp; guests in a timely, accurate, and professional manner during member and non-member events. This role is essential to ensuring smooth service and exceptional guest experiences at weddings, holiday parties, golf outings, banquets, and other club functions. The Food Runner works closely with servers, banquet staff, and kitchen personnel to maintain service flow, food quality, and presentation standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Events Manager, kitchen team, and service staff during events

  • Deliver plated meals from the kitchen to event spaces promptly and accurately

  • Communicate clearly with kitchen staff regarding timing, modifications, and special requests

  • Ensure food presentation and temperatures meet club standards before service

  • Support buffet setup, replenishment, and breakdown as needed

  • Assist servers during peak service times to ensure efficient course delivery

  • Clear plates, trays, and service items between courses and after events

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen pass areas and service stations

  • Assist with setup and breakdown of event spaces when required

  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines

  • Provide friendly, professional interaction with members and guests when appropriate

  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by supervisors or managers


Qualifications:
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation

  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with front- and back-of-house teams

  • Comfortable working independently when needed

  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays


Education and Experience:
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old

  • Prior food service or hospitality experience preferred

  • Banquet or events experience a plus

  • Must obtain an Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) license from the Borough of Rumson if required


Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking

  • Ability to lift, balance, and carry trays up to 25 pounds

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting during service and event setup/breakdown
