Job description

Shannon & Wilson is an employee-owned consulting firm headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and currently celebrating 70 years of continuous service. Committed to technical excellence and high-quality service, we provide integrated geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, environmental and natural resource services for clients worldwide. We deliver comprehensive engineering and environmental solutions for the most challenging infrastructure planning, design, permitting and construction conditions. We are dedicated to improving our communities, preserving the environment and utilizing the most innovative science practices in all our work.
Come join our Anchorage staff of over 20 geotechnical and environmental engineers, scientists, and geotechnical, environmental and administrative support staff. You'll be joining a cohesive and fun team with a diversity of experience and backgrounds, and you'll fill an important role within our office and our firm. Your geotechnical projects will take you to locations throughout Anchorage and surrounding areas, as well as travel to breathtakingly beautiful remote Alaskan locations, so bring your sense of adventure and your desire to contribute to Alaska's infrastructure and communities! Your geotechnical projects will include supporting civil engineers, structural engineers, and A/E design teams investigating geotechnical conditions to support design of new construction projects for a variety of public and private clients. Typical projects in our Anchorage office range from designing foundations for new buildings, bridges, and waterfront structures, to investigating pavements on Alaskan roads, airport runways, new roads in undeveloped land, working alongside our environmental staff for soil testing and remediation projects, and much more. We work in every region of the state, so you will be challenged by a wide variety of soil and bedrock, seismic environments, and permafrost conditions, working in both urban and rural settings.
Shannon & Wilson supports a variety of charitable and community-involvement organizations through volunteer hours, donations, and financial contributions. We are dedicated to improving our communities, preserving the environment, and utilizing the most innovative science practices in all our work. Staff enjoy an annual BBQ, group downhill ski outing, and various other friendly team-building events in a supportive and fun work environment. Between challenging, career-building projects and the endless recreational opportunities of Anchorage, come meet our team and find out if our Anchorage office is the right place for you!
