What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time GCP DevOps Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time GCP DevOps Engineer, you need a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (especially Google Cloud Platform), CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code, typically supported by experience or certification in GCP. Familiarity with tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, Jenkins, and Google Cloud services is commonly required. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and time-management skills help you efficiently handle projects and adapt to changing priorities in a part-time capacity. These skills ensure reliable deployments, operational efficiency, and seamless integration of cloud solutions within dynamic team environments.

What are the typical responsibilities and collaboration expectations for a Part Time GCP DevOps professional?

As a Part Time GCP DevOps professional, you can expect to focus on automating deployments, managing cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, and monitoring system performance. Your role often involves closely collaborating with development teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth code releases. While working part time, you'll need to communicate effectively to stay aligned with team goals, as DevOps relies heavily on cross-functional teamwork. Balancing multiple priorities and maintaining clear documentation are key to ensuring consistency and reliability in a part-time capacity.

Part time GCP DevOps roles involve managing and automating cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) while working less than a standard full-time schedule. These professionals are responsible for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining applications and services in the cloud, using tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines. DevOps Cloud Engineer
The Opportunity:
As a DevOps engineer, you know how to set up cloud environments and provision computer networking, storage, and virtual networks-ultimately, how to "harness the cloud." We're looking for an experienced DevOps infrastructure engineer like you to support our clients as they modernize their IT infrastructures and meet their most challenging missions.
As a DevOps infrastructure engineer at Booz Allen, you'll work closely with cloud architects and engineers to manage server configuration for modern cloud solutions. You'll apply your skills within a DevOps framework to establish or provision virtual machines (VMs) or networks and use cloud service providers to further your clients' meaningful missions.
With access to our internal innovative labs, there's no better place to further your skills and explore different ways of solving our clients' challenges. Whether helping to develop, deploy, or manage IT infrastructures for crucial server and network components, here you'll have the latest tech and brightest teammates at your fingertips.
Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • 4+ years of experience with the development of tools and processes to drive DevOps or DevSecOps maturity by automating builds, regression testing, monitoring, and pushing releases across environments
  • Experience provisioning computer networking and storage and setting up servers that the platform is on, including VMs or networks
  • Experience with integration and deploying container services through a DevSecOps pipeline
  • Experience with AWS Services such as EC2, S3, VPC, ELB, or CloudFormation
  • Experience working with Git for branching, tagging, merging, and release management, including GitLab CI/CD such as designing, writing, and managing .gitlab-ci.yml pipelines for build, test, and deploy workflows
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience in Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of network technologies, including DNS, load balancing, and TLS
  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience writing scripts using tools, including Bash, Python, or Boto3
  • Experience with GEOAxIS, Elasticsearch, Helm, and Terraform
  • Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipeline optimization, including the use of caching, artifacts, and parallelization to speed up CI/CD performance
  • Experience triaging and resolving issues related to both open-source and commercial tools in public cloud environments
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or Computer Engineering
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.
