Role: Child Care Center Part Time Closing Manager
The Part-Time Closing Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily closing operations of the child care center, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment for children, staff, and families. This role provides leadership support during afternoon and evening hours, maintains compliance with state regulations, and ensures all classrooms are operating efficiently until closing.
Schedule:
Part-time, afternoon to closing (hours may vary based on center needs)
Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support staff during afternoon and closing shifts
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of classrooms to ensure proper ratios, safety, and engagement
  • Ensure all children are properly signed out and released to authorized individuals
  • Communicate with parents at pick-up and address any questions or concerns professionally
  • Monitor staff performance and provide guidance to maintain center standards
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, health, and safety policies
  • Assist with managing classroom coverage and staffing adjustments as needed
  • Oversee daily cleaning procedures and ensure the center is properly prepared for the next day
  • Secure the building at closing (lock doors, turn off lights, set alarms if applicable)
  • Handle minor incidents, documentation, and notify leadership as needed
  • Support administrative tasks as assigned
Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a licensed child care setting required
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of state licensing regulations (Bright from the Start/DECAL preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple classrooms and prioritize tasks effectively
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must be dependable, organized, and able to work independently
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the center for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25–40 pounds as needed
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Work Environment:
This position operates in a child care environment with frequent interaction with children, staff, and families. The role requires maintaining a positive, professional, and safety-focused atmosphere at all times.
