To thrive as a Part Time Full Stack Developer, you need strong proficiency in both front-end (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks) and back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python, or Ruby), as well as relevant experience or a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, database management (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is typically expected. Excellent time management, communication, and the ability to work independently make someone stand out in this flexible role. Part-time full stack developers often coordinate with teams through flexible tools like project management platforms, version control systems, and scheduled check-ins to stay aligned with ongoing work. Many organizations also encourage asynchronous updates, allowing part-time developers to contribute effectively without needing to be online at the same time as the entire team.

Job description

Company Description

iFLIP4 is the brand and network for people to care. We're creating the one home for everything related to nonprofits, doing good, and changing the world -- targeted at millennials who overwhelmingly want to do good but don't know how. They can come to the site and learn about causes with articles, videos and games; they can find a nonprofit they love; and they can support it all in one place. The first way they can do that is that for every iFLIP4 product purchased, iFLIP4 donates half of the profits to the charity of their choice.

Pre-launch, we have been featured in the New York Post, and we are also the recipients of the Brown University C.V. Starr Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship.

We have iFLIP4 Ambassadors (campus representatives) on 50+ college and high school campuses in the US, UK, and Canada, and iFLIP4.com has been visited in 140+ countries.

Some of our advisors include a former treasurer of IBM, a media expert who helped launch MTV, a Fulbright winning law professor, and a senior advertising executive in charge of $250 million of ad sales at Yahoo.

Job Description

We want to change the world. We're a team of fast-executing social entrepreneurs on a mission to build the future of social change. We've bootstrapped our development so far, but we've gotten to a critical point in our growth where we want to take on a technical lead. This is an opportunity to shape the company's tech culture and design the technical foundation for a large-scale, cross-platform application.
We're not looking for someone to do busy work or implement another Rails app. We are searching for an outstanding full-stack developer to join our founding team as the lead of our growing technical staff.
We don't want a code monkey; we don't want someone to say yes and implement every feature we ask for. What we want is a partner. Someone to bounce ideas off of, someone with a vision for the future of our company, and someone who has the desire and drive to make it a reality.

Time and Pay:
This is primarily an equity position, with a negotiable stipend to start. We're looking for a long-term partner and engineering lead; this position will grow with iFLIP4. We are located in East Hanover, NJ.
Please send your resume to Team [at] iFLIP4.com Preference will be given to those who apply earliest.

Qualifications

Technical Requirements:

  • Design & Typography Background - Should be ready to shape the look & feel of the brand as well as the glue that keeps it all together
  • Extensive experience developing and maintaining templates, using add-ons, and optimizing for efficient and reliable performance
  • PHP (5+, OO PHP), and MySQL/SQL Database Experience (LAMP stack)
  • HTML/HTML5
  • CSS (LESS/SASS is a plus), Webfonts
  • Javascript (DOM, client-side MVC frameworks are a plus)
  • Git, software engineering best practices (TDD, Scrum? You decide!)
  • You care as much about UX/UI as you do about O() and normalizing DBs
  • Familiar with A/B testing, analytics, and pivoting quickly
  • Expert in ExpressionEngine CMS Platform (codeignitor experience a plus)
  • Sysadmin/Scaling experience (site is Rackspace hosted)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or similar preferred
