As of Jul 8, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time full stack developer in Michigan is $51.65, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $42.93 and $59.52 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Full Stack Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Full Stack Developer, you need strong proficiency in both front-end (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks) and back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python, or Ruby), as well as relevant experience or a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, database management (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is typically expected. Excellent time management, communication, and the ability to work independently make someone stand out in this flexible role. These skills ensure you can efficiently deliver quality end-to-end solutions while collaborating effectively and adapting to the dynamic needs of part-time or project-based work.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

Highly experienced software engineers, especially those in specialized fields like machine learning, AI, or senior full stack developers at major tech companies, can earn $500,000 or more annually. Compensation often includes base salary, bonuses, and stock options, particularly in large organizations or startups with significant funding.

How do part-time full stack developers typically manage communication and collaboration with teams working full-time hours?

Part-time full stack developers often coordinate with teams through flexible tools like project management platforms, version control systems, and scheduled check-ins to stay aligned with ongoing work. While their hours may differ from full-time colleagues, clear documentation and proactive communication help ensure smooth collaboration and project continuity. Many organizations also encourage asynchronous updates, allowing part-time developers to contribute effectively without needing to be online at the same time as the entire team.

Can you work part time as a full stack developer?

Yes, many companies offer part-time full stack developer positions, allowing individuals to work fewer hours while contributing to front-end and back-end development tasks. These roles often require proficiency in programming languages, frameworks, and tools like JavaScript, React, Node.js, and databases, and may be suitable for those seeking flexible schedules or additional income.

What is a Part Time Full Stack Developer?

A Part Time Full Stack Developer is a software professional who works fewer hours than a standard full-time schedule and is skilled in both front-end and back-end development. They are responsible for building and maintaining the complete stack of a web application, including the user interface, server-side logic, databases, and sometimes deployment infrastructure. Part-time roles offer more flexibility, making them ideal for those balancing other commitments or seeking additional work experience. These developers collaborate with teams or work independently, depending on the company's needs.

Will Fullstack be replaced by AI?

Full Stack Developers perform a range of tasks involving coding, system design, and problem-solving that currently require human judgment and creativity. While AI tools can assist with coding and automation, they are unlikely to fully replace the need for full stack skills, especially in complex project development and client interaction. Continuous learning and adapting to new technologies remain important for full stack professionals.

Is full-stack dev still in demand?

Full-stack developers remain in high demand due to their versatility in handling both front-end and back-end development, with skills in frameworks like React, Angular, and Node.js being particularly sought after. Many companies value full-stack expertise for its efficiency in building and maintaining web applications, especially in agile environments and startups.

How much do full-stack developers make per hour?

Full-stack developers typically earn between $30 and $80 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of projects. Freelance or contract roles may pay higher rates, especially for specialized skills in frameworks like React or Node.js.

Job description

Position Description:

Employees in this job function are responsible for designing, building, and operating high-throughput backend systems that ingest, process, and serve large volumes of telematics data from connected vehicle fleets. They work at the intersection of distributed systems, data engineering, and API development โ€” delivering reliable, low-latency services that power fleet intelligence products for commercial and enterprise customers. Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs that process and expose telematics data โ€” including GPS, trip events, driver behavior, vehicle diagnostics, and sensor telemetry โ€” at fleet scale Build and maintain real-time and batch data pipelines that ingest high-volume vehicle event streams from messaging systems (e.g., Pub/Sub, Kafka) into data warehouses and operational stores

Skills Required:

GCP, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence & Expert Systems, API 1. GCP โ€“ Experience deploying and managing services on Google Cloud Platform, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, and Cloud Functions. For example, designing and implementing a cloud-native application architecture using GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) with Cloud SQL and Pub/Sub. 2. Big Data โ€“ Experience working with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Dataflow, or BigQuery. For example, building ETL pipelines that process terabytes of daily event data and transform it for downstream analytics. 3. Artificial Intelligence & Expert Systems โ€“ Experience developing or integrating AI/ML models and rule-based expert systems. For example, building a classification model using Vertex AI to predict customer churn, or implementing a rule engine that automates underwriting decisions. 4. API โ€“ Experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful or gRPC APIs. For example, developing a versioned REST API with OAuth 2.0 authentication that serves as the integration layer between a mobile application and backend microservices.

Skills Preferred:

Google Cloud Platform 1. Google Cloud Platform โ€“ Familiarity with advanced GCP services beyond core compute and storage, such as Vertex AI, Dataflow, Cloud Composer (Airflow), and BigQuery ML. For example, using Cloud Composer to orchestrate scheduled data pipelines that feed into a BigQuery data warehouse.

Experience Required:

Senior Engineer Exp: Prac. In 2 coding lang. or adv. Prac. in 1 lang.; guides. 7+ years in IT; 5+ years in development

Experience Preferred:

Languages: Kotlin, Java, Python, or equivalent JVM/backend language Frameworks: Spring Boot, gRPC, REST API design Data: BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Redis, Bigtable, Kafka or Pub/Sub Infrastructure: GCP (or equivalent), Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines Practices: TDD, MLOps-adjacent data pipeline patterns, database performance tuning, API versioning

Additional Information :

***POSITION IS HYBRID / 3 - 4 DAYS PER WEEK IN THE OFFICE*** Architect and optimize data access layers across heterogeneous storage systems โ€” including relational databases (PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL), columnar warehouses (BigQuery), in-memory caches (Redis), and wide-column stores (Bigtable) โ€” selecting the appropriate store for each access pattern Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to design stored procedures, views, and query patterns in analytical databases that meet strict latency and throughput SLAs for reporting endpoints Implement data aggregation, transformation, and enrichment logic โ€” including time-series rollups, geo-spatial calculations, and unit/timezone conversions โ€” to produce accurate, consistent reporting outputs Build and enforce data contracts and schema evolution strategies to ensure backward compatibility and stability across upstream producers and downstream API consumers Integrate backend services with cloud-native infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure) including event-driven architectures, scheduled jobs, serverless functions, and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes/GKE) Instrument services with observability tooling โ€” structured logging, distributed tracing, and metrics โ€” and participate in on-call rotations to maintain high availability and reliability targets (SLO/SLA) Apply security best practices including authorization scoping (e.g., segment- or fleet-scoped data access), secrets management, and data privacy controls in compliance with automotive and enterprise data regulations Partner with product, data science, and platform teams in an agile delivery model โ€” contributing to technical design reviews, code reviews, and architectural decisions for new capabilities on the telematics platform
