French & Spanish Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Eager to help students turn "Je ne sais pas" into "Oh la la" or "ole!"? Motivated to help support children's French and Spanish education outside of the classroom?ย ย ย ย 

Oxford Learningย Kitsilanoย has an opening for an upbeat, passionate, committed, enthusiastic, and dynamic French and Spanish teacher who seeks work in a rewarding teaching environment. Our French Programs offer individual support to students looking to improve their academic skills and study habits. Candidates must possess a strong passion for seeing students succeed and must be comfortable teaching students ranging in age from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in French.

Tutor-teachers at Oxford Learningย do notย have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (3:30pm - 7:00pm) as well as some Saturdaysย from 10:00am - 1:00pm. A commitment until the end of the termย in June is preferred. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written French, Spanish, and English and be comfortable teaching up to a Grade 9 level, but up to Grade 12 is preferred. The candidate is required to instruct class sessions in French/ Spanish.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • BC Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades K-7 French core curriculum

Experience:

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring French/ Spanish at a Grade K toย 10ย (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong French skills and ability to guide students' understanding in fluent, native French
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-person
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
